Garden Breakfast Cafe in South Hampstead offers a straightforward, comforting start to the day in a setting that feels unpretentious and buzzy, especially mid-morning through early afternoon. This is very much a neighbourhood café where locals drop in for reliable, hearty breakfasts and brunches without fuss. The atmosphere carries the lively hum typical of a coffee shop serving fresh, made-to-order dishes—expect a bit of background chatter and the occasional clatter of plates as tables fill up, particularly on weekends.

Those who appreciate a classic English breakfast will find well-executed staples here—fried eggs paired with bacon, sausage, beans, and sourdough toast form the backbone of the menu. There's also room for lighter, fresher options like avocado toast topped with feta, or vibrant salads like the halloumi and garden varieties. Pancakes and French toast attract a crowd looking for something sweet and generous in portion. Coffee, including cappuccinos and matcha lattes, is given care, making this a reliable spot for a good caffeine hit alongside your meal.

The café’s modest backyard garden area is a quiet retreat from the main dining room, suited to warmer days when you want to linger over breakfast with friends or a book. Families and small groups mix with solo visitors, many evidently regulars who appreciate the friendly but unobtrusive service.

If you’re after a flexible menu that caters to various dietary needs—vegan and gluten-free options are available here—you’ll find this an accommodating local pick. Pricing feels reasonable given London's usual café scene, and portions lean toward generous, making it a practical choice for a fulfilling brunch or weekend breakfast.

All told, Garden Breakfast Cafe fits neatly into South Hampstead’s laid-back corner of London. It’s less about stylistic statements and more about comfortable, no-nonsense breakfasts and coffees, served with a smile and a side of local familiarity.

Delicious food and friendly staff, this place is truly amazing. Pancakes were flavourful and smothered in syrup. Avocado toast with eggs and chorizo was filling and wholesome and provided a healthy meal to start the day. The yogurt with fruit was covered in berries and delicious. The eggs on toast were perfectly cooked and the bread was chewy and well made sourdough. The passion fruit, mango, and pineapple smoothie was highly recommended. Delicious overall.

A friend of mine took me here. When she used to live in London, she used to come here very often. It was about ten years ago and this lovely place is still here. This brunch place serves an English breakfast and it was quite delightful although there’s no green vegetables come along. I enjoyed the coffee and a nice English breakfast with a reasonable price. There’s a nice backyard where you can relax as well. The service was great too. I’d love to revisit again when I’m back to london.

There's plenty of choice and the menus are very good and very well served! A must if you're in the area. The pastries are excellent (be careful, they go fast). The pancakes are big and fluffy. Prices are fair for London, and the owner is very attentive to her customers' wishes. The staff are smiling, which doesn't spoil anything.

This places is an absolute must. Vegan options, gluten free options, accomodations for picky eaters. Is the atmosphere a tad bit louder. No duh. It's smoothies and fresh food, louder tends to accompany that but it's nothing that would impact your breakfast. They are welcoming and warm from the second you walk in. The food is made fresh with large portions and amazing cooking. My apple juice was actually freshly made just for me. They have so many smoothies and so many amazing options for coffee with quick fast service. I would come here a million times and recommend it to anyone I know.

I had the most delightful birthday breakfast at this charming café. From the moment I walked in, the staff was incredibly warm and welcoming, setting the tone for a wonderful morning. The coffee was outstanding—my Americano was perfectly brewed, and I even treated myself to a bag of their coffee beans to take home! The food was just as impressive. The portions were generous, and everything was delicious—definitely one of the best breakfast experiences I’ve had. The café had such a cozy, inviting atmosphere that made the whole experience even better. A huge thank you to the staff for making my birthday morning so special. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great food, amazing coffee, and a lovely atmosphere!

Two mornings in a row at this charming neighbourhood gem. Bonus points for the quality of the baked goods-both the sourdough toast and the croissants (proper flaky buttery things, not cardboard pillows) impressed. Nice staff and good vibe.

Very excellent service. Attentive and quick to receive our meal. We went twice because it was close to our Airbnb. Very friendly owners and super kind. The food was on point. The coffee and drinks excellent. Thank you for your hospitality..

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome and even taught me some simple phrases in Turkish. There was plenty of room at the tables and the chairs were comfortable. The atmosphere was a little sparse, but they had interesting historical pictures of the area on the walls. The food was first rate & absolutely delicious.
